Who is Tony "cyco" Roy ?

My Journey. My Story. My Path.

# whoami Hello, my name is Tony Roy, also known by my online moniker, cyco (short for cycoslave or cYcOsLaVe). Since the 90s, I have been actively engaging with the online community using this nickname on IRC servers. During the 90s, I was deeply involved with IRC (Internet Relay Chat) networks, particularly EFNet. I also managed my own IRC network, which provided invaluable hands-on experience in networking and daily exposure to security risks inherent in IRC environments. This experience has been instrumental in shaping my expertise in network security.

I am a certified professional in several key areas of cybersecurity and IT, holding credentials such as CompTIA Security+, eJPT (eLearnSecurity Junior Penetration Tester), Google Cybersecurity certificate, Barracuda, and Microsoft Azure. In my previous role as a telecom engineer, I held certifications from Nortel and Avaya. Currently, I am working towards obtaining the Hack The Box Certified Professional (CPTS) and Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certifications. Additionally, I am preparing to take the CompTIA Pentest+ exam through TCM Academy's PNPT (Practical Network Penetration Tester) program. My extensive training in programming and cybersecurity further bolsters my expertise in these fields.

I hail from the picturesque Maritimes region of Canada, renowned for its stunning coastline, delicious seafood, and vibrant tourist attractions. Beyond my professional life, I cherish spending quality time with my loving wife and three kids. We enjoy being playful, visiting the beach, and watching movies together. My musical tastes are diverse, with a particular affinity for heavy metal, though I also appreciate rap, hip-hop, and punk rock. By blending my technical skills with a passion for continuous learning and a commitment to my family, I bring a unique and well-rounded perspective to the fields of web development and cybersecurity.
